Questions about Hunters in the Snow
1) Describe any moment in the story when the characters tried to help another one but ended up making things worse. Were there any clear "good" guys or "bad" guys?
When Kenny was shot, Tub and Frank helped him into the car. They were going to help by driving him to the hospital but instead they stopped for coffee and then again for pancakes. This made it worse because Kenny was really hurt and he needed to get to hospital quickly. He was laying in the car when Frank and Tub were in a bar. They should have driven Kenny as quickly as possible to the hospital even if Kenny had been a jerk to them while they were in the woods.
I don't think that any character is the "good" guy or the "bad" guy in this story. They all do really stupid things to each other and in some ways they end up hurting themselves even more.
2) Do the characters have any sense of right or wrong? Is there a connection between being lost in the woods and being lost in life?
Some of the decisions Frank and Tub made in the story are wrong when to me there is an obvious right thing to do. Kenny should have told Frank and Tub that the farmer asked him to shoot the dog because then Frank and Tub wouldn't have been so freaked out. Most of their decisions were wrong.
I think there is some connection between being lost in the woods and lost in life. Since there lives are so messed up they had a hard time focussing on the paths and the signs with directions in the woods. Being lost in the woods helped them connect and feel more comfortable with each other so latter in the story they can talk about their problems.
